It was an interesting drive through villages and towns. We then went back 100 years at the tea plantation!
To the days when England ruled the waves! I had told the guide that in my time I had worked for Typhoo and Lipton tea brands and this meant the manager of the plantation wanted to see me and thank me (not sure for what to be honest) but he came and found me although I'm not sure about my wrist!
It was then into the fields and going back 100 years where the tea pickers have to pick 44 ibs of the top 2 leaves per day
Then inside to see a process that also hasn't changed for 100 years with completely original machinery
How much do they earn for an 8 hour day either in the fields or in the factory? $5 a day.
From the surface we scratched, I think this is somewhere we'd like to return to spending some more time to explore some of the other parts of the country that have history as old as Egypt and beautiful scenery, beaches and wildlife!
