So today was the first time in Albania for both of us so I have done 102 countries and Keith has done 141.
The weather was lovely and we decided to go on a tour as we know nothing about Albania apart from the bad reputation they have in the UK.
We docked right in the town again.
It was communist until the 1990’s and they were very poor and starving. The guide said still very much like that in the countryside.
Anyway we walked around the city and saw the ruins of the old Jewish temple, then went to Lekuresi castle which had stunning views over to Corfu and Greece. I never realised how close Corfu was to Albania before!
We then were taken to a monastery that they are restoring and the frescos inside were stunning. I will add one once Keith has airdropped it to me!
Nice to see the countryside and see how barren everything seemed. Lots of Europeans are coming here as it is so cheap but it is pricing out the locals. Young people are leaving the country to fins a better world elsewhere.
