So today we were up early as we were going on a zodiac trip to Hvalsey ruins which are from the 1400’s, the ruins were 12 miles away.
Wrapped up warm and the weather was glorious we went to the ruins which make you wonder why anyone would want to live in this barren land. We had to take a polar bear sniper with us in case we saw a bear….hence the man in black with a huge gun on the ground by his side.
However on the way back a zodiac kept breaking down which meant when we arrived at an iceberg we timed it to perfection and saw the iceberg calve! Not only did it do it once but twice the top of the ice berg just went into the water…..our driver drove away as fast as possible in case it caused a wave. I hope the pictures give some idea of what happened.
