Canada Alaska and Japan

 Tuesday 9th September

We flew from Heathrow to Vancouver flight was fine and I slept for four hours …ridiculous. Immigration was quite quick and we went to check in for next flight and they managed to get us on the earlier plane so we got into Calgary at 9pm. We both slept well.

Wednesday 10th September

Drive from Calgary to Banff.

This morning we left Calgary pretty early having picked up the car. We drove on the old 1A which was a great road, we went on to Canmore and to Grassi Lakes Trail for a walk.we walked up to the waterfall on a great path. We took the easier path back down which was a little boring but a good walk. We then went into Canmore and wandered around and had an ice cream. We left Canmore and drove to Banff and got to the hotel At 4pm. We then went for a walk round town before changing for dinner.

Went went to one restaurant the Boss and left after twenty minutes as service was so poor. Irish pub next door was great.

Thursday 11th September

This morning we got up early and went to Lake Miniwanka. As we were so early it was glorious. So quiet beautiful scenery.

We got some lunch in Banff. In the late afternoon we went on a tour to Lake Moraine and Lake Louise. Great tour and the photos came out pretty well….again look back

Friday 12th September

Banff to Golden

So we were up early again as we needed to pack up the car before we went on our Banff gondola trip. I was very brave and did the trip without any fuss.

It was wonderful at the top where we had a coffee and cookie and took in the view. We then walked on the boardwalk before coming back down. Bus back into town then we went to the Cascades gardens which were stunning. Then we walked along the Bow River to the Falls stopping along the way to view the Art.

We then drive from Banff to Golden via the old 1A as far as possible. We stopped along the way at some creeks and view points. At Morants curve we took a few photos and waited for ten minutes and we were lucky enough to see a train. It took five minutes for me to video it going past. We were very lucky.
